A startup named Freshot Robotics has set up an idli bot or “idli ATM” which is a part of their Foodbots in Bengaluru to prepare, package, and dispense them in a quick process. Freshot Robotics, was founded by Bengaluru-based entrepreneurs Sharan Hiremath and Suresh Chandrashekaran.
A video on Twitter of an Instagram influencer takes viewers inside their first experience store in the city. Through a fully-automated and contactless process, neatly packaged and steaming idlis are delivered within minutes.
The idea to set up this machine came out of the personal experience. It was 2016 and Sharan Hiremath wanted to buy idlis for his unwell daughter late at night but no restaurants were open, hence he got this idea and set this up and aims to bring forward more and more innovations.
Over 214k people have seen the video and left a variety of comments. While some people were astounded by the technology, others had some valid concerns, such as how one might request additional chutney. Of course, memes have flown.
