Neha Kakkar received immense criticism on social media as she, like most of the industry, followed Bollywood’s new trend of remaking old songs. The popular singer chose to remix the iconic Falguni Pathak’s 90’s song “Maine Payal hai Chhankai” which brought her to the crossroads of a social media brawl.
Along with netizens, Pathak initially expressed her discontent towards the song by simply resharing posts criticizing Kakkar. However, in a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Pathak openly expressed her disapproval of the new remix. “What else could have I done? I could not take legal action.” She added, “I was overwhelmed to see so many people write on social media that they love my music, and they didn’t like this (Kakkar’s) version.”

Nothing just Neha Kakkar ruining another 90's song #FalguniPathak pic.twitter.com/Pa6BzXnTlj— Tarun Jindal Gejha 🇮🇳 (@TARUN__JINDAL) September 24, 2022
The fact that #NehaKakkar is so obsessed with her singing that she doesn't even realise people are criticizing her for a reason.
Instead of taking it as a constructive criticism, she has the audacity think that people are jealous of her happiness and success. #FalguniPathak— Urja (@morning_grouch) September 25, 2022

She further stated that only if she had prior knowledge of copyrights, such a crisis could have been avoided. “I wish I was aware back then. Jab khud pe guzarti hai tab pata chalta hai. I regret that I didn’t know about it then, otherwise, I would have definitely done something about it,” she said.
Furthermore, she did not seem to hate the idea of an artist remixing her songs but argued that the same required a lot of passion for making good music.
On the other hand, while Kakkar’s “O Sajna” went through brutal feedback, social media was taken aback by the promo of the popular singing platform, Indian Idol. The promo introduced Neha Kakkar as the judge and Pathak as a guest on the show. The duo was seen mingling and reacting to their online tussle which created a sense of confusion in the viewer’s mind.

The event was followed by speculations of a fake scuffle between Kakkar and Pathak to gain publicity.
Moreover, throughout the controversies, Kakkar was seen actively defending herself on social media. “For those who’re s unhappy seeing me happy and successful, I feel sorry for them. Bechaare… Plz keep commenting. I won’t even delete them. Coz I know and everybody knows what Neha Kakkar is!” She further added, “If talking in such a manner, saying such bad things about me, abusing me.. makes them feel good and if they think it will ruin my day. Then I’m sorry to inform them that I’m too blessed to have bad days. This God’s child is always happy coz God himself is keeping me happy.”
