The Indian National Congress has released its first list which carries the names of 124 candidates, for the Assembly elections, due in May. “Here is the first list of Congress candidates finalised by the CEC for the forthcoming Karnataka assembly elections,” said the party sharing the list of candidates.
The list also contains the names of the two Congress heavyweights from the state. Former Chief Minister and leader of the opposition Siddharamiah will contest the assembly elections from his home constituency, that is Varuna. The party has also decided to field the state party president DK Shivakumar from the Kanakpura constituency.

List Released by Congress Chief
The First list of the candidates was released by Congress’ Central Election Committee (CEC). The committee was chaired by the National president of the party, Mallikarjuna Kharge. The first list was cleared on March 17, after the high command’s meeting.
Although the election commission is yet to announce the official dates for the voting, two parties have already put out their candidates’ lists. The Aam Aadmi Party was the first party to make its list public on Monday. AAP will field a total of 80 candidates.

Some other names which have made it to the first list are Lakshmi Hebbalkar from Belgaum Rural, Priyank Kharge from Chitapur, Rizwan Arshad from Shivajinagar, Dinesh Rao from Gandhinagar, Tanveer Sait from Narashimaraja, and former deputy CM G Parameshwara from Koratagere, among others.
