The Karnataka High Court has given permission to Kannada actor Ganesh to build a farmhouse on his land within the eco-sensitive area of the Bandipur Tiger Reserve. However, there is a warning that he may face consequences if the construction is found to be permanent and not allowed according to decisions made by the top court.
Justice Krishna S. Dixit has reinstated the actor’s petition, which was previously closed on August 21. This happened after the court had requested Ganesh to respond to a notice from the Bandipur Eco-sensitive Zone Monitoring Committee. The notice accused him of building permanent structures, contrary to the permission initially granted for temporary ones.
On September 1, the actor requested an additional hearing on his petition. He submitted documents to demonstrate that his constructions do not violate the orders of the top court. The actor also mentioned that similar constructions, like the one he is undertaking, are being carried out in the vicinity of Jakkalli, Hanagala hobli, Gundlupet taluk, and Chamarajanagar district. In these areas, he owns one acre and 24 guntas of land where he is building a farmhouse.
The actor had requested permission to proceed with the constructions, with the condition that he would abide by any future court orders regarding them. He also stated that he would not claim any special treatment or justification for the construction if it was later determined to be against the top court’s directives. In the meantime, the State Advocate General informed the court that the authorities have no objections if the construction remains temporary, in accordance with the orders of the top court.
The court accepted the actor’s assurance and granted him permission to proceed with the construction. However, there was a condition attached: if the constructions are eventually found to be permanent and in violation of the top court’s decision, the actor would be liable for potential consequences. In the interim, the court also allowed him to submit all necessary documents to the committee in response to the notice.
