The Contrast In The Sitharaman Household

Matu 28

The Finance Minister of India, Mrs. Sitharaman Claims that she “went knocking at their doors even after they paid ” and “It was a step better than what prevailed earlier”  answering questions about the coincidence of ED and CBI raids and Electoral Bond payments. On the other hand, her Husband Mr.Prabhakar says that “it is not only the biggest scam in India but is the biggest scam in the world”. Why is it that there is such a drastic difference in opinion of the Sitaraman Household? Let’s Understand this.

Parakala was born into a well-known Telugu Brahmin family in Narsapuram, Andhra Pradesh. He comes from a family associated with the Congress party. His mother, Parakala Kalikamba, was a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Andhra Pradesh, while his father, Parakala Seshavatharam, was a respected legislator from Narasapuram. Seshavatharam also served in three successive Cabinets in the state of Andhra Pradesh during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Sitharaman’s Personal Life

Nirmala Sitharaman was born in a Tamil Iyengar family  in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to Savitri and Narayanan Sitharaman. Nirmala Sitharaman joined BJP in 2008. She was a national spokesperson of the party till 2014. In 2014, she was inducted into Narendra Modi’s cabinet as a junior minister and was elected in June of that year as a Rajya Sabha Member from Andhra Pradesh.

The Husband and the wife both belong to very different backgrounds. One has a Political Background with his parents being members of the legislative assembly the other probably did not think about joining politics until an opportunity presented itself. So the difference in opinion could be explained.

Politicians are well known for their hypocritical behavior and their change in opinion is almost in alignment with their parties, this seems to be the case here. In the same house, the Finance Minister and a well-known Economist can have contrasting opinions, however, the debate on whose opinion is right and valid is put down by the Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court, when making the Electoral Bond Judgement did not imagine that it would prove that a Husband was “Right”.

The Electoral Bond data may very well affect BJP in the upcoming LS polls, by how much is a question only time will answer. The fact that  Mrs. Sitharaman will not be contesting the 2024 LS polls does raise a few more questions.

The Finance Minister of the world’s 5th largest Economy says that she does not have “that kind of money” to run for elections which raises many eyebrows. Could the difference in opinion have influenced the minister’s decision? Or has the minister realized that the scam has plagued the perfect image that she was trying to project? Only the Sitaraman Household will be able to clear these clouds of doubts.
