Actor Atul Kulkarni recently turned into a screenwriter as he adapted the American classic “Forrest Gump” into “Laal Singh Chhadda” for Indian audiences.

Atul, a close friend of Aamir ever since they worked together in Rang De Basanti, has received critical appreciation for his work and was being applauded until Twitter users who were already calling to boycott this project dug up his old tweets.

On Twitter, the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha was already trending, with internet users urging people to skip the film in light of Aamir Khan’s infamous previous comment about “India’s growing intolerance.”

Even a couple of Kareena’s contentious old statements had been dug up by critics, accusing both of them of being anti-hindu.

Now, Atul Kulkarni’s old tweets, asking a Twitter user “What made you think I was a Hindu?” made the rounds on social media, adding fuel to this trending hashtag.
