In a significant development, Sarah Jacob, a senior editor and anchor at NDTV, has tendered her resignation to the news channel. Jacob, who had been associated with NDTV for more than two decades, submitted her resignation via email, expressing gratitude for her time with the organization.
Reports indicate that Jacob’s resignation comes in the wake of a viral NDTV clip on social media. The clip featured Jacob anchoring a news story highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged display of respect towards women. The timing of this incident appears to have played a role in Jacob’s decision to step down.
Sarah Jacob now joins the list of several other prominent personalities who have recently parted ways with NDTV following the news channel’s takeover by the Adani Group. Last November, Prannoy and Radhika Roy resigned as directors of the board of NDTV promoter RRPRH. Shortly after, acclaimed journalist Ravish Kumar also bid farewell to the channel.
In early January, a series of resignations followed. Group President Suparna Singh, Chief Strategy Officer Arijit Chatterjee, and Chief Technology and Product Officer Kawaljit Singh Bedi all announced their departures from NDTV. Sreenivasan Jain, a veteran journalist, subsequently revealed the end of his three-decade-long journey with the channel. Nidhi Razdan then made her resignation public via a tweet three days later.
The growing list of departures from NDTV has drawn significant attention and raises questions about the channel’s future direction under new ownership. The departure of Sarah Jacob, a seasoned senior editor, further underscores the ongoing transformations within the organization.
