Haryana’s self-styled godman Baba Billu Ram has been sentenced to 14 years in jail for multiple sexual assault cases. Baba Billu Ram, also known as Amarpuri is guilty of raping three of his female disciples, which included a minor. He also recorded the crime in the form of a video.
The self-proclaimed godman would sell ‘Jalebis’ at Tohana’s main market in Haryana, and hence earned the name, Jalebi Baba.
According to sources, Baba Billy Ram has introduced to the occult practices not very long ago. After getting into it completely, he shut down his Jalebi business and built a temple to carry out criminal activities. He has been booked for raping women on multiple occasions. The first time his name was found in records was in 2017

The police are aware of the baba’s nefarious activities since 2018. According to an officer, inspector Pardeep Kumar and his team were the first ones to know about it. “A secret informer showed him an obscene video of Baba Billu Ram on his mobile phone. He disclosed that the godman had been physically assaulting the women and blackmailing them in the name of religion. A CD was also produced by him”
During the investigation, the police recorded a statement by a victim who stated that she was forced into a physical relationship by the baba when she approached him for an evil spirit.

When the Haryana Police arrested the baba, they found as many as 120 purported sex recordings. It was later found that the women used to approach the baba to solve their problems. “He is a Tantrik (occultist), who used to offer drugs to women. It was alleged that he used to sexually exploit them. Then he used to blackmail these women for money,” Bimla Devi had then said.
“It is pertinent here that the present case detected by the police on secret information and all the officials of the investigating team had performed appreciable work to collect the incriminatory evidence against the accused which has been proved on the file,” the judge said.
