Who Is Kanika Dhillon? Meet The Reason Netizens Are Boycotting Akshay Kumar’s Next Film

Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar and Aanand L. Rai, has stumbled into controversy just days before its scheduled release due to screenwriter Kanika Dhillon’s anti-Hindu tweets that have gone viral online.

Dhillon tweeted in reference to the passing of Ashok Amrohi, former Indian ambassador to Brunei, Mozambique and Algeria, saying:

“Dying in the parking lot after waiting for a hospital bed…Yeh aache din hai! India super power hai! Aur gau mata ka mutra peene see Covid chala jayega. (These are the good days…India is a super power. And drinking cow’s urine will cure Covid-19).”

This news seems to have angered Kangana Ranaut as well, who took to her Instagram stories to say, “Ha ha nothing affects them as much as financial loss… only the fear of financial loss can make them delete Hindu phobic and anti India tweets, nothing else… interesting.”

Netizens took to Twitter to express their outrage, with #BoycottRakshaBandhan trending.

This isn’t the only trouble Akshay’s films seem to be facing lately. BJP MP Subramanian Swamy is suing Akshay Kumar over ‘falsification’ of facts and ‘infringement’ in his next film Ram Setu, which is set to debut on Diwali this year.
