Urdu, often celebrated for its exquisite charm, has ascended to become the 11th most spoken language worldwide, boasting a staggering 1.632 billion speakers. This language of elegance and grace extends its influence far beyond its South Asian roots, gaining popularity in countries like the UK, USA, France, and Germany, not to mention its presence in the Gulf region. 

 

Urdu’s reach also extends to Guyana, Mauritius, Nepal, and South Africa. Remarkably, it stands as the national language of Pakistan while playing a pivotal regional role in Nepal. Furthermore, in India, Urdu finds a strong foothold, ranking as the seventh most spoken language with over 80 million speakers. Recognized as one of India’s 22 official languages, Urdu enjoys official status in several states and territories, including Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Delhi, with special recognition in Jammu and Kashmir.
