After months of speculations, Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj fans finally got a glimpse of the next movie which they are doing together. The title announcement for the project which was tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy67’ for the longest period happened on February 3.

The 2:48 minutes long title announcement video showed the titular character of ‘Leo’, in an out-and-out action avatar. The title announcement video was very similar to that of Lokesh’s last release ‘Vikram’. Although it has not been officially put out by the makers, it is a well-established rumour that the movie is a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which already has Kaithi and Vikram in it.

The ‘Leo’ teaser showed the duality of Vijay’s character, one of which seemed to be working with cocoa/chocolate, while the other was tempering a sword. There were enough hints of the universe in the title announcement video, from the eagle and scorpion symbols to reference the cocoa which is speculated to be Erythroxylum, the mention of which is found in Vikram.

The teaser broke the record for the most-liked title announcement video. The record was earlier held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawaan, which was released on Youtube in 2022. The Leo teaser crossed over 1 million likes in a day, which goes on to prove the tremendous hype for the movie.

The announcement video has been received extremely positively by fans on social media. #Thalapathy 67 had been trending for over a month on Twitter. While several fans liked the nuances and little hints about the universe in the teaser, many others compared it with the Vikram title announcement video and mentioned their disappointment regarding the same.
