‘Naatu Naatu’ by M.M. Keeravani has been shortlisted in the top 15 songs, which will advance to the Oscars. The SS Rajamouli directed ‘RRR’ is making rounds in the West as it is in serious contention to get a few nominations at the Oscars.
In an article released by the Oscars, they put out the names of 15 songs that have advanced to the final stage before nominations. The article also stated that a total of 81 songs were eligible for the same.

“15 songs will advance in the Original Song Category in the 95th Academy Awards. 81 songs were eligible in the category. The members of the Music Branch vote to determine the shortlist and the nominees.” read the statement.
Released in March 2022, RRR was a massive hit in India before hitting the shores of North America. The action saga was sold as a package in America, one which had all the elements of music, action, drama, and emotion.

Besides the Academy, team RRR got their hands on several other awards and nominations, including the prestigious Golden Globe Awards. The movie has been nominated in two categories for the Golden Globe Awards – Best Original Song and Best Non – English Language Film.
The music of the film was accoladed at the Boston Society of Film Critics Award in the category of Best Original Score.

RRR was not shortlisted by the Indian Committee of Oscars. As a result of the snub, the film independently applied to the general category. The film will be competing with the other films in 14 different categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.
