Arun Kumar, well known by his stage name Atlee, is a Tamil-language film director, screenwriter, and producer from India. Do you, however, know these facts about him?

  • Original Name:

Atlee’s birth name is Arun Kumar. He disclosed that ‘Atlee’ was his nickname and was frequently called by his family and relatives at home in an interview during the marketing of the movie Theri. When he first entered the film industry, the young director chose the name “Atlee” over his name, Arun Kumar.

  • Early Life:

He was born in Madurai and spent his early years in Chennai. He was born, raised, and attended school in Chennai, where he graduated college. The ‘Raja Rani’ filmmaker studied Visual Communications at Chennai’s Sathyabhama University.

  • Friend of Sivakarthikeyan

Sivakarthikeyan, the newest phenomenon in Kollywood, and Atlee had been close friends for a long time, even before they started working in the film industry. Sivakathikeyan has appeared in a number of his short films. The director recently disclosed that he will collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan in the near future.

He started his career in Kollywood as Shankar, the legendary director’s assistant. He collaborated with him for five years on important, historical films, including Superstar Rajinikanth’s Enthiran and Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Nanban flicks, serving as the associate director.
