Kannada Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been in the news for several reasons. A video of the actor making rounds on Twitter, where he is seen using a problematic analogy to get his point through to the interviewer.
A 10-second clip from the interview shows Darshan talking about the ‘Adrushta Devathe’ or the Goddess of Luck. “Adrushta Devathe doesn’t always knock at the door. When she knocks, grab her, drag her to your background, and strip her naked, if you give her clothes she will go out.” said the actor in the interview.

The video was shared by a Twitter user named Troll Haiku. In reply to it, people have added encrypts from his previous interviews where he is seen using the same analogy.

Social media has reacted to the video and have termed the actor as a ‘misogynist’ for his statements, while many others have also appealed to him to carry himself like the other actors in the industry.

The Slipper Attack
Actor Darshan was in the news for bearing a slipper attack. While promoting his upcoming film ‘Kranti’, a miscreant attacked the actor with their slipper, at an event.
A sea of fans had gathered to see their star promote the film. A group of people, which claimed to be fans of Puneeth Rajkumar, tore the banners of the Kannada actor as he walked onto the stage. As they continued their activity, Darshan appealed to the crowd and reminded them about the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s stance on fan wars.
Reports suggest that the actor’s sexist remarks in the interview led to the fans reacting violently.
Support from the industry
However, support poured in from all corners of the Kannada Film Industry for the actor. Icons such as Sudeep, Shivajrajkumar, and Jaggesh took to their social media to publicly state their disappointment.
