The Delhi Police detained the 20-year-old AC repair worker in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old girl who was stabbed at least a dozen times and died in plain sight in Outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy. The victim was allegedly murdered by her lover.
The girl was reportedly walking down the street when Sahil, who was later recognised, abruptly stopped her, stabbed her repeatedly with a knife, and struck her on the head with stones, according to a police officer. The accused was arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr.
The officer in charge told reporters, “Sahil and the deceased were in a relationship but yesterday they had a quarrel. On Sunday, the deceased was planning to attend her friend Neetu’s son’s birthday. The accused Sahil intercepted her and stabbed her multiple times.”

The police reported that they had learned on Sunday that a dead girl’s body was lying on the street in the Shahbad Dairy neighbourhood. When a police informant spotted the girl’s body, they were contacted, and a PCR car was dispatched to the scene. They also reported a homicide.
The chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, called out Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena in response to the crime. In a tweet, he said, “A minor girl is brutally murdered openly in Delhi. This is very sad and unfortunate. The criminals have become fearless, there is no fear of the police. L-G sir, law and order is your responsibility, do something. The safety of the people of Delhi is of paramount importance.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted, “The audacity of the criminals in Delhi is alarming. Issuing a notice to the police. All limits have been crossed. In my entire career, I have never witnessed anything as horrifying as this.”
