Bihar IPS officer Amit Lodha became a household name following the release of the Netflix series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter. However, he has garnered the limelight again. A case has been filed against Lodha for corruption and allegedly using his government position for financial gains. After coming under the scanner of Bihar Police’s Special Vigilance Unit, he has now been suspended.
An official statement claims that Lodha signed a contract with the streaming service and the production company Friday Storytellers while he was still an IPS officer in order to profit financially from his position. The department’s investigation revealed that the allegations of Lodha’s corruption were true, and the Special Vigilance Unit filed a case on December 7 under sections 120B and 168 of the IPC as well as the IPC Act’s provisions for the prevention of corruption as a result.
A police officer with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police will conduct an additional investigation into the situation. Hours after the accusations, Amit Lodha tweeted, “Sometimes life can throw you the most difficult challenges, particularly when you are right. It’s during these times your strength of character is reflected. Need your prayers and support to come out victorious.”
In addition to the Bihar Diaries, he also wrote Life in the Uniform: Adventures of an IPS Officer in Bihar, which was published in 2021. Throughout his career, he received honors such as the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the Police Medal for Valor, and the Internal Security Medal for a number of his operations.
Khakee: The Bihar Chapter follows the story of epic tussle between two men on both sides of the law, one a dreaded gang headed by Chandan Mahto and the other a fierce and dynamic IPS officer Amit Lodha.
