Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 48, is married to Gurpreet Kaur, who belongs to Pehowa in Haryana, in a low-key marriage ceremony with select invitees, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal arrived at Mann’s residence in Chandigarh, as the ‘Anand Karaj’ (wedding with Sikh rituals) was scheduled to take place. Speaking to reporters before heading to Chandigarh, Kejriwal wished Mann a happy married life as he “embarks on a new journey”.

As per the food menu obtained by ANI, the guests got to savour delicious Punjabi and Italian cuisine: Karahi Paneer, Tandoori Kulche, Dal Makhani, Navratan Biryani, Mausami Subzian, Apricot Stuffed Kofta, Lasagna Siciliano and Burrani Raita. Different types of salads were also available for health-conscious people.

This is Mann’s second marriage. It is believed to be an arranged marriage, as Mann’s mother Harpal Kaur is acquainted with Kaur’s family. Mann’s children from his first marriage: daughter Seerat Kaur Mann (21) and son Dilshan Singh Mann (17) attended his swearing-in ceremony in March. Mann divorced his first wife Inderpreet Kaur in 2015.

Meanwhile, his to-be wife, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, is an MBBS degree holder from Maharishi Markandeshwar University in Mullana in Ambala district, and the youngest of three sisters. The elder ones are settled in the US and Australia.

Ms. Kaur took to social media to express her excitement over the ceremony. Ahead of the wedding on Thursday, she tweeted a beautiful picture of herself in a blue suit. The photo appears to be from the pre-wedding ceremonies. She wrote, “Din shagna da chadya (the auspicious day is here).” Gurpreet looked like a beautiful ‘Punjabi Kudi’ in the traditional look, flaunting her smile.

Only close relatives were invited to the low-key affair. No minister or other big leaders were invited to the ceremony except Mr. Kejriwal and Raghav Chadha.
