The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) is taking proactive steps to manage traffic and parking during the upcoming World Cup match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. With the event scheduled for Thursday, the BTP has issued parking restrictions from 7 am to 11 pm. These restrictions are vital to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and safety for fans attending the match. The affected areas include prominent city roads such as Queen’s Road, MG Road, and Kasturba Road, where parking will be prohibited. However, alternative parking options and designated areas for taxis and autos are available to ease the inconvenience for spectators.
To prevent traffic congestion and facilitate the movement of spectators, the BTP has delineated specific areas where parking will be strictly prohibited on match day. These restricted zones include Queen’s Road, MG Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Central Street, Cubbon Road, St Mark’s Road, Museum Road, Kasturba Road, Dr BR Ambedkar Road, Lavelle Road, Vittal Mallya Road, and Nrupathunga Road. Parking in these areas will not be permitted during the specified hours to maintain smooth traffic flow.
For those in need of parking, several authorized locations are available as convenient alternatives. Parking facilities are accessible at King’s Road, the UB City parking lot, 1 SOBHA Mall, Safina Plaza, and the first floor of the BMTC bus stand in Shivajinagar. Utilizing these authorized parking spaces will not only help reduce congestion but also ensure that vehicles are safely parked during the World Cup match.
The BTP has also made provisions for taxis and autos to drop off and pick up fans attending the match. Taxis can operate within the stretch of Cubbon Road, specifically between BRV Junction and the vicinity of gate number G7 at the stadium. This arrangement streamlines the process for those arriving via taxi, making it more convenient for fans.
Similarly, auto-rickshaws will be available near the Cubbon Park metro station, ensuring easy access for those looking for this mode of transport to and from the stadium. This designated auto-rickshaw area aims to minimize traffic bottlenecks and enhance accessibility for match attendees.
