Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated film, OMG 2, set to hit the screens on August 11, seems to be facing uncertainties. Recent reports indicated that the Censor Board would closely scrutinize the movie to avoid a backlash similar to what happened with Adipurush. Moreover, the film’s release date is now in doubt, as it awaits certification.

While the trailer has received a U/A certification, the film itself is still pending approval. The movie stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, which has reportedly become a point of contention. The Censor Board has demanded 35 cuts, including changing Akshay’s character from Lord Shiva to a messenger of the deity, as per insider information.

The producers of OMG 2 have taken a firm stance against cutting scenes and instead chose to modify them. However, this decision has raised concerns about whether they will ultimately obtain the desired U/A certification even after making the requested edits.

Although the trailer has already been certified U/A, Furthermore, it does not require certification for release on digital platforms, and interestingly, it has not been released on such platforms yet, despite a teaser dropping earlier in July.

Following the release of the teaser, reports surfaced about the Censor Board referring OMG 2 to its Revision Committee. This move came in the wake of Adipurush, a rendition of the Ramayana featuring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, facing criticism and subsequently revising certain dialogues. As a satire that prominently features God as a central character, speculation arose that the Censor Board would adopt a cautious approach towards OMG 2, possibly resulting in significant scrutiny and potential modifications.

OMG 2, which also features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam as co-stars, serves as a spiritual sequel to the previous film OMG, where Akshay Kumar portrayed the role of Lord Krishna. The film’s scheduled release date is set for August 11. However, if it adheres to the planned release, it will find itself in direct competition with Gadar 2, a movie starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. The clash between these two highly anticipated films has drawn significant attention from fans and industry insiders alike.
