Seven Fined ₹50,000 Each For Illegally Hunting And Selling Spotted Deer Meat


In Hosur, Tamil Nadu, seven individuals have been fined ₹50,000 each by the Denkanikottai Forest Department for their involvement in the illegal hunting of a spotted deer and subsequent sale of its meat.

The accused, identified as Chellappan (65), Ramraj (31), Rajiv (31), Nagaraj (28), Sivarajkumar (31), Mariyappan (65), and an 18-year-old boy, faced penalties after the forest department received information about a spotted deer found dead in a public pond at Zuzuwadi village near Hosur.

Upon receiving the information, the forest department promptly went to the location to recover the deer’s body. However, before officials arrived, the accused took it upon themselves to remove and dismember the deer without notifying the authorities. Subsequent investigations by the forest department revealed that the individuals had engaged in the illegal hunting of the spotted deer.

As a consequence, the forest department apprehended all seven individuals and imposed fines of ₹50,000 on each of them. Additionally, a stern warning was issued to all involved parties, cautioning them against engaging in the hunting of wild animals or possessing items related to wildlife. The forest department emphasized that any such activities would result in strict legal action being taken under the Wildlife Act.
