7 Times Deepika Padukone Said Savage Things In Interviews With A Smile lead 61d57bf99ceb1

Deepika Padukone recently opened up about her childhood and career in Hindi cinema. Deepika claimed in the interview that her ‘South Indian accent’ was frowned upon, and she first worried that it would cost her her job. Deepika has always been known for her outspoken stance on issues. Here’s 5 more times she stirred up a storm with her comments.

Her Flawless Comeback To Kareena Kapoor’s Comment

Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan had a engaged in a war of words back in the day, which was swiftly shut down by Deepika’s flawless comeback.  “I was supposed to do Ram Leela but I changed my mind,” Kareena stated back then. With me, it’s all about the mood… I’m the only actress who can boast of giving films to other actresses.”
When Karan Johar asked Deepika what a suitable alternative job option for Kareena Kapoor would be on Koffee With Karan, Deepika reacted patronisingly. “Charity,” Deepika said in response, leaving  Karan Johar and Priyanka Chopra’s jaws on the floor with their sneaky insult.

The JNU controversy

When Deepika joined the JNU students to show her solidarity and denounce the attack on the JNU students, she created quite a commotion in the media. This occurred amid the height of anti-CAA demonstrations in JNU. The actress visited the university while in town to promote her upcoming film Chhapaak. While many praised her actions, others dismissed them as a publicity gimmick and accused her of being anti-national.
While #BoycottChhapaak was trending on Twitter, others were rallying behind #StandWithDeepika. Whatever the reason was for her actions, no one can deny that it was a brave move as the entirety of Bollywood stayed silent on the CAA protests.

The Ram Leela Controversy

Deepika’s films are notorious for inciting uproar. It was no exception in the film Goliyoon ki Rasleela Ram- Leela. The film’s initial title, Ram Leela, was quite criticized by the public because of its connection with the Hindu god Ram. Sanjay Bhansali, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh, among others, had been charged by the Jalandhar police with an FIR being filed against them. The film’s title was then changed to Goliyoon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela from Ram Leela. Sanjay Bhansali, while clearing the air on the film, remarked “It appears that some misinformation is being carried out regarding the film, but to clarify it is inspired from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The film is neither related to traditional Ramleela performance. Ram the main character of the film does not resemble lord Ram in any manner”.

Her Plastic Surgery Comments on Koffee With Karan

During their contentious visit on Koffee With Karan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja  and Deepika slammed those who lie about undergoing plastic surgery. “If there was a separate graveyard for actresses, we’d know who did what,” Deepika said, and Sonam added, “because the plastic would remain behind,” which made them both giggle.

When She Slammed Salman Khan For His Views On Depression

“I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional,” Salman Khan remarked after Deepika revealed her battle with depression. “But I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed, sad, or emotional because no matter what I’m going through, it works against me.”

“People confuse it with being a little sad,” Deepika said while covertly responding to the disrespectful remark. ” A male celebrity recently stated that he does not have the luxury of being depressed. As if depression is a choice!”
