Sonu Nigam, one of the most popular and successful playback singers of Hindi cinema, has allegedly been threatened by the cousin of Iqbal Singh Chahal, who is the chief of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). According to sources, the cousin, named Rajender Singh Pahl, was eager for Sonu to perform at a concert overseas.
Rajinder asked Sonu Nigam to perform in a concert in another country, according to a report in Zoom. Sonu Nigam’s performance details, however, are controlled by Mr Rakesh Kaushal, an international promoter. As a result, Sonu Nigam supposedly requested Rajinder to connect with his manager instead.

Sonu Nigam took to Instagram today to post screenshots of derogatory texts he received from the Mumbai BMC Chief’s cousin. Mr Rajender was reportedly irritated by Sonu’s refusal to directly answer his requests. He then wrote a series of threatening, defamatory and derogative messages to Sonu. Sonu therefore resorted to Instagram to share screenshots of Mr Rajendar’s interactions with him, accusing Rajinder of using Mr Chahal’s name to threaten people.
Sonu mentions in the caption, “And this man expects people to work with him and give him the Houston sector for organizing concerts. He has been threatening people in the name of respectable Mr Chahal who is a thorough gentleman,”.
In a statement, Mr Rajender refuted Sonu’s allegations, saying that “The difference emerged between Mr Sonu Nigam and Mr Rajender Singh, as Mr Singh resisted working with one person referred to as Rocky and Mr Rehan Siddiqui recommended by Mr Nigam to perform at a concert overseas. Mr Rakesh Kaushal (alias Rocky) and Mr Rehan Siddiqui have been banned by the Ministry of State for Home Affairs, Govt of India,”.
Mr Rajender stated that he didn’t want to collaborate with Mr Kaushal since they were both “anti-nationals.” “The duo have been known for malpractices and supporting Pakistan-based terror groups as reported earlier in media. They are blacklisted based on recommendations of the Consulate General of India. It is against the ethics of Mr. Rajender Singh Pahl to work with Anti-Nationals. He will not work with anti-nationals even if they agree to work for free,”
